Frequently asked questions

Short answers about Support at Home, assessments, pricing, choices and feedback. For personal advice, call 0401 932 959 or email admin@mcsupport.com.au.

Support at Home is the Australian Government in-home aged care program. It began on 1 November 2025, replacing the Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care Programme. Approved services may support clinical care, independence and everyday living, based on your assessment and support plan.

Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or apply online. The Single Assessment System looks at your needs, goals and circumstances and provides a support plan if you are eligible. A family member or supporter can help with your permission.

Your approved support plan determines which services and pathways are available. These may include nursing and other clinical supports, personal care, mobility, social support, transport, domestic assistance, meals and home maintenance. Availability and each worker's professional scope are confirmed before services begin.

Your contribution is a percentage of the service price:

• Clinical Supports — you pay 0%.

• Independence — full pensioner 5%; part pensioner or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holder 5%–50%; self-funded without the card 50%.

• Everyday Living — full pensioner 17.5%; part pensioner or card holder 17.5%–80%; self-funded without the card 80%.

Example: $110 cleaning × 17.5% = $19.25 paid by you. From 1 October 2026, approved personal care moves to Clinical Supports, so the contribution is 0%. Services Australia confirms your exact rate; ‘no worse off’ arrangements may apply.

Yes. Ask for a review when your needs, goals or circumstances change. You may also choose another provider. Check your service agreement and talk with your current provider, My Aged Care or an independent advocate before making changes.

Contact MC Support on 0401 932 959 or admin@mcsupport.com.au. You can also contact the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission on 1800 951 822 or OPAN on 1800 700 600 for independent advocacy. Raising a concern should not disadvantage you.
